About the project
Szambi
Szambi is a remote monitoring system for holding tank levels. Aqsod owns the whole product: the electronics, the firmware, the radio link, the enclosure and the software on both the resident and the sewage company side.
System architecture
Three parts, one system.
The system consists of a sensor, a base station and an app. The sensor measures the level in the tank, the station receives the reading and shows it on its display, and the app adds reading history and alerts.
Sensor
measures the level in the tank
Battery powered and mounted under the tank lid. A sealed enclosure resistant to moisture, vapours and sediment. Fitting needs no cabling and no groundwork.
Base station
receives data and shows the percentage
Plugs into an ordinary wall socket. It receives readings over radio and displays the current fill level on screen.
App
the full view of the level
Current level, reading history and fill rate. Every tank on the property visible in a single list.
16
sensors supported by a single base station.
No SIM
The link runs on our own radio, so no mobile coverage is needed at the tank.
No tools
Fitting takes a few minutes and needs neither an installer nor any wiring.
Resident app
The full view of the tank on your phone.
The app shows the current fill level and the reading history from recent weeks. The alert arrives several days in advance, so the pump-out is booked calmly rather than as an emergency.
Live fill level
The current tank level as a percentage, at home and away.
Alert in advance
The alert arrives a few days before the tank fills, leaving time to book a pick-up.
History and fill rate
The chart shows how fast the level rises and when the next collection is due.
Several tanks in one list
House, farm, second plot. Every sensor is labelled and shown separately.

Sewage company panel
Jobs on a map, routes planned automatically.
The other side of the system is an operations panel for the company and a separate app for the driver. A resident's request goes straight to the company, and the records the council requires are produced automatically.
- 1Requests land in the panel and appear on a map.
- 2The algorithm plans optimal routes including the visit to the discharge point.
- 3The company adds its fleet and its assigned drivers.
- 4The driver sees the route in the app. It works without coverage too.
- 5Statistics and the municipal report are generated in one click.

Applications
The system can be used in:
The sensor measures the level regardless of what the tank holds, which opens up uses well beyond sewage alone.
Septic and holding tanks
The system's core application.
Retention tanks
Keeping track of rainwater.
Agricultural tanks
Slurry and liquid manure on the farm.
Home treatment plants
Monitoring the settling tank.
Process tanks
Industrial and process installations.
Scope of work
What we built.
The product was built in house, from the schematic through to the app release. The same team ran the project at every stage.
Electronics and PCB
Schematic, part selection and board layout for the sensor and the station.
Firmware
Software for the sensor and the station, with power draw as the priority.
Radio link
Our own link between the sensor and the station, with no SIM card.
Enclosure
A sealed design that stands up to the conditions inside a tank.
Mobile app
Level view, reading history and alerts.
Company panel
Jobs, routing and records for sewage companies.
At the prototyping and prototype testing stage.
We are proving the prototype in a pilot with four installers in real-world conditions.
Industry partnership
OSFIS
The Polish Association of Installation and Service Companies brings together tradespeople. They fit and service tanks for residents every day.
Together we promote Szambi among member companies. We show installers the system and collect their feedback. It then feeds into the product.
